LEBANON — Michael Campbell’s Corbin 11U Baseball All-Stars have their back against the wall after falling to Warren County-South, 8-3, during their second pool play game on Sunday.
Corbin is currently 0-2, but still has an outside chance of advancing to Tuesday’s 11U Baseball All-Star State Tournament.
But first things first, Corbin will have to beat Lexington East on Monday.
Against Warren County-South, Corbin led 2-0 after four innings of play before allowing seven runs in the fifth inning, and couldn’t recover.
Gabriel Dee, Weston Reynolds and Owen Hinkle each finished with a hit apiece while Gunner Sizemore and Ryder Hedrick both finished with a hit and a run scored apiece. Eli Baker also scored a run while Colton Campbell drove in a run.
First pool play game
A quick start by Morehead, combined with the Corbin 11U Baseball All-Stars’ struggle at the plate, led to Michael Campbell’s squad’s 9-3 loss during their first pool play game of the 11U Baseball All-Stars State Tournament on Sunday.
Morehead jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning before adding four more runs in the third inning to take a 7-0 edge.
Corbin responded with three runs in the top of the fifth to cut its deficit to 7-3 before Morehead added two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth to secure the win.
Gunner Sizemore led Corbin with a hit, two RBI, and one run scored while Weston Reynolds finished with a hit and an RBI. Owen Hinkle, and Gabe Mack both finished with a hit and a run scored apiece while Ryder Hedrick and Noah Norvell both had a hit apiece.
