COLLEGE SOFTBALL
The MEAC Softball Championship Tournament begins Wednesday at Norfolk State, with four games scheduled to be played at the NSU Softball Field.
The No. 2 seed Spartans will play in the third game of the day at 5 p.m. against the winner of the opening 11 a.m. contest between No. 3 Delaware State and No. 6 South Carolina State.
No. 4 seed Morgan State will face No. 5 North Carolina Central at 2 p.m., and No. 1 Howard will face the Morgan State-North Carolina Central winner at 8 p.m.
Three games will be played Thursday, beginning at 2 p.m.
The Spartans went 21-21 overall and 14-7 in the MEAC this season in a remarkable turnaround from a 4-43 overall record in 2024.
VT, UVA could meet in ACC tourney
Virginia Tech is seeded third and UVA is seventh in the ACC Softball Championship, which starts Wednesday in Brighton, Massachusetts.
The Cavaliers will take on No. 10 seed Louisville at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the third of four scheduled games. The Hokies will face the winner of that game at 5 p.m. Thursday.
All games will be televised by ACC Network, with the exception of the championship game. It will be aired Saturday on ESPN.
- Hampton University outfielder Amani Johnson has made the CAA All-Rookie Team. She hit .288 with eight RBIs and 11 runs this season.
- Virginia Wesleyan is ranked No. 3 and Christopher Newport is No. 4 in the NPI Division III softball rankings this week. In the NFCA rankings, CNU is third and VWU is fifth.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL
- Former Georgia State defensive back Ja’Maric Morris committed to the University of Virginia on Tuesday, according to The Daily Progress. The 6-3, 205-pound safety from Timmonsville, South Carolina, had 11 tackles and two interceptions last season.
- Former Auburn offensive lineman Jaden Muskrat has committed to transfer to Virginia Tech. The 6-foot-3, 312-pounder from Berryhill, Oklahoma, played as a reserve left tackle last season.
WOMEN’S COLLEGE GOLF
UVA is fifth in NCAA regional
No. 11 Virginia is in fifth place after the second round of the NCAA Charlottesville Regional.
The top five teams advance to the NCAA championships.
The Cavaliers’ Megan Propeck is tied for seventh individually after shooting rounds of 70 and 72.
South Carolina leads the team competition in the regional, followed by UCLA, Florida and Mississippi.

C2C Tournament to start day early
The Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament has been moved up a day due to the threat of rain in the forecast.
The tournament will now begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Salisbury, Maryland, when No. 3 seed Christopher Newport takes on No. 2 Mary Washington. The winner will play No. 1 Salisbury at approximately 2:30 p.m.

- Norfolk State forward Chris Fields Jr. has committed to Campbell out of the transfer portal, according to Portal Updates on X. The 6-7 sophomore averaged 8.4 points and 4.3 rebounds a game while shooting 47.5% from the field.
- Hampton University middle distance runner Jordan Mozie has been named the CAA Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Co-Track Athlete of the Week. The senior won the 800 meters at the Aggie Classic with a personal-best time of 2:04.41.
- The William & Mary men’s gymnastics team had 17 athletes make the Eastern College Athletic Conference All-Academic Team: Connor Barrow, Mark Fu, Alex Grapsas, Niko Greenly, Will Harrington, Jonathan Irwin, Sam Lee, David Moroney, Matthew Navarro, Jared Noyman, Zachary Patrick, Trenton Peazant, Ricky Pizem, Evan Sikra, Michael Weiner, Evan Wilkins and Gavin Zborowski.
