Eamonn Holmes makes worrying on-air health admission during GB News report
GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes sparked concern with some viewers as he struggled to see the autocue during a news bulletin
TV presenter Eamonn Holmes made a concerning confession live on air during a GB News bulletin.
The 65-year-old appeared on the GB News breakfast show with co-host Ellie Costello and appeared to struggle to read a report during the show. Eamonn even needed his co-star's help to finish the job.
During a news bulletin about the use of artificial intelligence in schools, Eamonn visibly struggled before making a stark admission live on air. While addressing his audience, Eamonn stumbled during the segment and also had to ask Ellie to repeat herself when he couldn't hear her.
Eamonn, who often wears reading glasses on air, found himself unable to see the words clearly as they discussed the impact of AI on jobs. Eamonn said: "This comes as the GMB calls for school staff to - I can't see what it says there - to have better training in AI so the next generation know what they are up against."
On top of this, Eamonn had to ask Ellie to repeat a figure about how one in four workers are worried about AI. Eamonn told Ellie he didn't hear her right the first time.
The veteran broadcaster has been open about his health issues in the past. He has admitted to suffering from severe back pain and has previously shared his concerns about feeling like he's living on "borrowed time".
Eamonn's father died of a heart attack at the same age and in 2018, he suffered an eye-opening health scare, reports the Express. Just two weeks before his son's wedding, Eamonn developed shingles.
He recounted the alarming moment, saying: "It was bl**dy scary to see it. It looked as if someone had taken a baseball bat to my face and smashed me about a bit.
"Blindness could have been a complication in my case. The doctor said it's really bad for you because it's around your eyes, and could be bad for your ophthalmic nerves.
"Medically, it was pretty serious. At the TRIC Awards 2024, Eamonn reflected on his health struggles during an acceptance speech.
After GB News took home an accolade, he said: "Thank you very much for this award. We were up against world class programmes and that makes it a little bit more special.
"Sometimes we all think about imposter syndrome. I went for an operation a year and a half ago and it went wrong.
"I got two things in my back that I didn't want."
