ECU baseball drops second consecutive home series in game three loss to Tulane, 7-2

GREENVILLE, N.C. — East Carolina University's baseball team faced a tough loss against Tulane on Sunday, concluding their series with a 7-2 defeat. Despite a strong performance on Saturday, where ECU secured a 15-5 victory with four home runs, including two by Dixon Williams, the Pirates couldn't maintain their momentum. Ryley Johnson's impressive defensive play and Jack Herring's home run brought hope, but Tulane's two two-run homers sealed the series win.

In other college baseball action, Duke triumphed over Virginia Tech with a commanding 14-0 victory, highlighted by Sam Harris's grand slam and AJ Gracia's second grand slam of the game. Meanwhile, UNC secured a 6-0 shutout win against Pittsburgh, with Hunter Stokely driving in two runs.

In Major League Baseball, former ECU Pirate Connor Norby hit his first home run of the season and went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, although the Miami Marlins fell to the Seattle Mariners 7-6.

In Supercross, Cooper Webb dominated at Acrisure Stadium, securing his fifth win of the season and extending his points lead with two races remaining.

NASCAR saw Austin Cindric claim his second Cup Series victory of the season at Talladega, narrowly beating Ryan Preece.

On the ice, the Carolina Hurricanes rebounded from a double-overtime loss to New Jersey with a strong performance, led by Andrei Svechnikov's hat trick showing in a dominant 5-2 win.

In the UFL, former J.H. Rose star Cornell Powell had a standout game for the DC Defenders, scoring his second touchdown of the season and adding four catches for 89 yards in the Defenders 37-33 victory over Arlington.

In NFL news, former Havelock, ECU, and Oregon star Nishad Strother has been invited to the Baltimore Ravens rookie minicamp, offering him a chance to prove himself. Additionally, the Carolina Panthers have added Hunter Renfrow to their receiver lineup, bringing his veteran experience to the team.
