LAWRENCE TWP. — The Notre Dame High varsity baseball team stopped a two-game slide by posting a 10-0 win over the Lawrenceville School Saturday in the Lawrence Township Champions Cup played at Lawrence High.
Junior southpaw Joe Lech pitched a four-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts to lead the Irish.
Mike Shipula doubled and drove in three runs, while Rocco Valentino went 3-for-3 with a run scored and two runs batted in.
Anthony Woo was 2-for-2 to account for half of the Big Red’s offense.

LAWRENCE TWP. — The Big Red broke Lawrence’s four-game winning streak in the final game of the Lawrence Township Champions Cup behind the pitching of Gray Devine and Chris Trucano.
Cardinals pitchers Connor Willever and Aiden Crowley kept the game just as tight before L’ville scored a run in the top of the sixth to win it.
Anthony Woo stayed hot by going 3-for-3 and knocking in both of the runs for head coach Steve LaRochelle’s club.
Josh Vichroski doubled and scored Lawrence’s run in the second inning.
Even with Lawrenceville’s win, the Cardinals still claimed the Lawrence Twp. Champions Cup by virtue of their three runs allowed in two games yesterday.

POSTPONEMENTS
Inclement weather did affect some games Saturday.
Princeton’s game with South River originally switched sites before getting tentatively switched to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 13 at Valley Road Field.
Steinert’s game with North Brunswick at Community Park as part of the already postponed Autism Awareness Challenge was postponed again.
Hopewell Valley’s game at Warren Hills was canceled as was Delran’s Papa Bear Tournament, in which Ewing was participating.
AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL TRYOUTS
Lawrence Legion Post 414 Baseball will be holding tryouts at 9 a.m. Sunday May 4 and Sunday, May 18 at Mike Pezzicola Field (Central Park on Eggerts Crossing Road) in Lawrence. Boys ages 14-18 who live in Lawrence or attend Lawrence High, the Lawrenceville School, Notre Dame High, Ewing High and Hopewell Valley High are eligible.
