Palisade Baseball Fends off Central for 1st League Win
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - A late game surge helped the Palisade Bulldogs Baseball Team take down their cross county rival Central Warriors.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, with Ascher Morby rolling on the mound. Central’s first runs came in an odd way, with a pair of runners on, the Bulldogs hit a weak grounder to first, but just before Kian Kinslow could get to it the ball, veered almost 45 degrees into foul territory, allowing both runners to score to bring things close at 3-2.
Palisade showed resiliency answering back almost immediately with an RBI off the bat of Hunter Howard, that allowed the speedy Easton Embrey to come all the way around to score to extend their lead to 4-2.
The following inning in the fifth, the Bulldogs pulled away for good, putting four runs on the board to go up 8-2, and they held on to win 10-4.
With the win, the ‘Dogs record their first Southwestern League win of the season. The Bulldogs and Warriors will meet again Friday, April 18.
