No. 18 Oklahoma (26-10, 7-8 SEC) defeated Oklahoma State (16-18, 5-8 Big 12) 11-1 in a run-rule victory on Tuesday in Stillwater.
The Sooners have been a part of three straight games decided by a run-rule – winning two of those games. They also beat Oklahoma State for the first time since April 6, 2024. After losing four games in a row, OU has won three of its last four games. Next, Oklahoma returns to conference play and will face Missouri (12-23, 0-15) at 7 p.m. on Thursday in Columbia, Missouri on SEC Network+.
Here are things to know from the game:
•Oklahoma scored five runs in the first inning off of Oklahoma State junior left-hander Ryan Ure. Junior catcher Easton Carmichael started the scoring with a bunt single, then redshirt sophomore infielder/outfielder Sam Christiansen drove in two runs with a single. The Sooners added two more runs on a fielder’s choice from junior infielder Dayton Tockey, and an RBI single by freshman infielder Kyle Branch.
•Sophomore infielder/outfielder Jason Walk belted a grand slam in the eighth inning, to give OU a 10 run lead. In the No. 5 spot in the lineup this season, Walk has a .400 batting average with six RBIs.
•Oklahoma stole seven bases on Tuesday, and leads the SEC with 89 stolen bases. Branch and sophomore infielder Jaxon Willits each stole two bases, while Carmichael, Tockey and junior infielder Dawson Willis stole one base.
•Freshman left-hander Jaden Barfield made his first career start, and didn’t allow a hit in two innings while collecting a pair of strikeouts.
•Senior left-hander James Hitt pitched three scoreless innings against the Cowboys. In his last five outings, Hitt has gone 11.1 innings and has given up two runs. He now has a 2.42 earned run average this season.
•Barfield, Hitt, senior right-hander Reid Hensley and senior right-hander Dylan Crooks were all of the arms the Sooners used on Tuesday. Crooks made his first appearance since April 5, against LSU.
