ST. MARYS — Notching its fifth straight win, the DuBois Beavers baseball team used a five-run second inning to beat St. Marys 6-4 Monday afternoon at Berwind Park.
The Beavers (7-1) sent 11 batters to the plate in the second, scoring all five runs with two outs with the help of two errors that led to three unearned runs.
Prior to the back-to-back infield errors, the Beavers got a run-scoring single from Chamberlin and bases-loaded walk to Trey Wingard. To start the inning, Dutch starting pitcher Cam Coudriet walked Jonathan Reed and Bryson Kail singled before Coudriet got the next two outs.
After St. Marys (5-4) plated three runs in the bottom of the third, the Beavers added a run in the sixth to set the final when Madix Clark doubled in Samson Deeb with two outs.
Grady Galiczynski and Alex Sago combined on a three-hitter for the Beavers. Galiczynski went 6 1/3 innings before hitting his pitch limit, giving up all three hits while striking out nine and walking two with three of the four runs he gave up going unearned. Sago faced two batters, striking out one with the tying run at the plate after the Dutch reached on a one-out infield error.
Coudriet singled in two runs in the second for St. Marys. On the mound, he took the loss, giving up four hits and five runs, two of them earned, while striking out two and walking five. Ben Paul threw the final two innings, giving up one hit and an unearned run.

At Stern Field, the DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals improved their record to 9-1 and recorded their sixth shutout win of the season with a 3-0 victory against the visiting Cranberry Berries.
The Cardinals, who have allowed six runs this year, got a two-hitter with 17 strikeouts from Carter Himes in a complete-game effort to improve his record to 3-1.
Himes walked one batter in a 93-pitch effort, giving up a two-out double to Connor Morrow in the first inning and two-out Alex McIntyre single in the top of the fifth. With runners on first and second after his two-out walk to Aiden Herrell-Ward, Himes got out of the inning when he picked him off second.
Himes has now given up six hits and one earned run in 25 1/3 innings with 48 strikeouts against seven walks.
Three Cranberry pitchers — Morrow, Herrell-Ward and Ben Lindenburg — limited the Cardinals to just two hits, but the Cardinals took advantage of six walks in 3 2/3 innings from the starter Morrow to score two runs and scored all three runs after two outs.
In the first, Morrow walked Brayden Fox and Himes with two outs before Trenton Miller doubled both in. Then in the fifth with two outs, Aiden Snowberger led off and reached on an infield error, stole second and then scored on Himes’ two-out single.
The win came on the heels of DCC collecting a 12-2, 6-inning mercy rule win against Bishop Canevin Saturday on what proved to be a milestone evening for Aiden Snowberger. The senior lefty allowed his first hit and runs (both unearned) of the season but went the distance while recording the 200 strikeout of his career.
Snowberger entered the game with 199 Ks and finished the game with 11 to put himself at 37 on the season and 210 in his standout career. He didn’t walk a batter in a what proved to be another stellar start.
Central gave Snowberger all the offense he needed with a huge seven-run bottom of the first before invoking the mercy with five more runs in the sixth to end the game in walk-off fashion.
Snowberger tossed 3 1/3 no-hit innings to start the game before Canevin’s Tyler Maddix singled to record the first hit the Cardinal allowed in 18 2/3 innings this season. Kellen Andruscik had already reached on an error to open the inning.
Canevin wound up scoring two runs in the frame after an error extended the inning, which were also the first runs the lefty allowed this year. Those runs mattered little in the end as DCC ultimately finished off the game in the sixth.
Snowberger helped his own cause, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Evan Burton also was 2-for-3 with a RBI and two runs scored. Xavier Schwentner added a two-run double to end the game in walk-off fashion.

The Raiders led 1-0 before the Falcon Knights plated four runs in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the fifth to grab a 6-2 advantage.
Brookville scored the game’s first run in the top of the third when Landen Marrara singled in Parker Kalgren with one out. The Raiders scored their second run in the fifth when Marrara scored on Luke Burton’s strikeout and passed ball play.
In the seventh, Burton blasted a two-out, two-run homer to left field to set the final. Burton finished 3-for-4 with his two runs knocked in while Marrara and Kalgren both singled twice.
The Falcon Knights (4-2) took advantage of eight Raiders errors, four of them coming in their four-run fourth. Winning pitcher Chase Ruth capped the fourth with a two-run double.
Ruth got the win, going the distance and giving up nine hits and no walks with three strikeouts on just 73 pitches with 58 of them going for strikes.
