The New York Mets made a lot of moves over the offseason to build their roster for the next few seasons. Their offseason was headlined by the addition of Juan Soto and their team has looked pretty solid to this point, though the offense has sputtered at points. Still, their front office has made a lot of solid moves since last season ended.
But they could still look to make some more moves this season.
Bleacher Report's Joseph Zucker recently linked the Mets to a blockbuster trade for Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr. if "maybe the stars align."

"In terms of the Mets' offense, the early returns from Jose Siri aren't great. He's batting .059 and slugging .118 through six games," Zucker wrote. "Those numbers are bound to improve, but this is also a player with a career OPS (87) that's below the league average, per Baseball Reference. Maybe the stars align to where Luis Robert Jr. becomes a more attainable target for New York."
Robert was once viewed as the top name on the trade market last season, but he's struggled since returning from injury a year ago. Because of this, the White Sox are unlikely to trade him at the value he currently has. Instead, they would likely want a return worth closer to the player who smashed 38 home runs in 2023.
Robert has the ability to be a game wrecker in the outfield, on the bases, and in the batter's box. He could be a 30 home run, 30 stolen base guy if he finds his stride.
The Mets would need to part ways with a serious prospect haul, but this is the kind of trade that would make sense down the line.
