Eastern Mass. baseball: Globe Players of the Week for March 27-April 2

As we officially reach one week into the spring season, see our updated Top 20 poll, and our first baseball Players of the Week.

Ryan McMahon, Malden — For the second-straight year, the junior earned MVP honors in the Golden Tornado First Pitch Classic. He went 3 for 4 and struck out eight in four innings in Friday’s 11-1 win over Salem Academy, then earned another win with four more strikeouts in Tuesday’s 12-2 win over Lynn Tech.

Jack Shapiro and Marco Sullivan, Latin Academy — During a 2-0 week, Shapiro, a junior, provided the offense — two home runs and five RBIs in Friday’s 13-0 win over Nantucket and a walk and a run in Wednesday’s 6-2 win over Charlestown — and Sullivan, a junior, was dominant on the mound, striking out eight in four one-hit innings against Nantucket and firing a three-hit complete game with five strikeouts against Charlestown.

Drew Taylor, Bishop Stang — In a big offensive week for the Spartans, the senior outfielder launched a three-run homer in Tuesday’s 12-2 win over Nauset before delivering a hit, two walks, an RBI, and three runs in Wednesday’s 11-1 win over Cardinal Spellman.

Aidan Tkowski, Medway — The junior delivered back-to-back three-hit games, scoring a run in Monday’s 5-3 win over Medfield before totaling two RBIs, two runs, a steal, and the save in Wednesday’s 10-9 win against Bellingham.

Daniel Vazquez, Medfield — The Williams-committed senior launched a two-run homer in each of the Warriors first two games. He contributed a pair of hits in Monday’s 5-3 loss to Medway, then did the same in Wednesday’s 5-1 triumph over Norton.

Dillon Waterhouse, North Attleborough — The senior lefthander hurled a no-hitter Wednesday in a 4-0 win over Stoughton, striking out four and walking one while facing just 22 batters.
