Bowling Green mourns the loss of former baseball Hilltopper and coach

The Bowling Green Purples community and Western Kentucky University baseball are mourning the loss of Daniel (Dan) Leon Mosier who passed away at 64.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - The Bowling Green Purples community and Western Kentucky University baseball are mourning the loss of Daniel (Dan) Leon Mosier who passed away on Tuesday surrounded by family at the age of 64.

Dan was a graduate of Griswold High School in Griswold, IA where he was a quadruple-sport athlete playing football, track and field, basketball, and baseball.

He played at Indian Hills Community College and University of Nebraska-Omaha each for a year before moving to Bowling Green to finish his career at Western Kentucky University. He would then go on to be a graduate assistant then eventually an assistant coach until his departure in 2005. He spent the next 11 years coaching at Bowling Green High School where he also taught U.S. and World History until his retirement in 2016.

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel, in Bowling Green, KY.

Visitation will be from 9:00am-12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
