Warrior adapted floor hockey assistant coach Ron Allord had big shoes to fill – and he did it well. With head coach Bruce Thompson having to leave for a scheduled vacation, Allord coached Brainerd to a 6-5 OT win in the consolation round, before losing to Rochester in the consolation finals 3-2 on a last-minute goal.

Senior defenseman Justin Kieffer has been chosen MVP of the Warrior hockey team. Kieffer, who led Brainerd with 21 goals and 44 total points, has been selected to play in the Maroon & Gold Series and in the East/West Challenge. Brainerd's Justin Beyer will also play in the East/West Challenge.

(Photo) Brainerd school district music students rehearsed with Mike Smith, high school choir director, in the high school gym for the All-City Music Festival – nicknamed the “Mass Mess.” The festival took place last night and there were 1,500 students participating.
60 years ago (1965)
More than 140 boys and girls are already registered for firearms safety training this spring. Parents are reminded that registration closes March 25. Classes are held Saturdays at either Brainerd city hall or the Baxter School. All instructors and directors donate their time to this training.
80 years ago (1945)
Faced with manpower shortages in the war effort, local Minnesota draft boards will start issuing draft notices for men between the ages of 30 and 33 beginning on April 1. This is a month earlier than was planned. Draft boards are also studying draft deferments for possible reclassification.
100 years ago (1925)
The amount of cream received at the Farmers' Co-op Creamery in February – some 68,444 pounds – is more than in any February before. Over 22,000 pounds of butter were made. The butter was marketed by the Minn. Co-op Creamery Assn. under the Land O' Lakes brand, with half being sold on the East Coast.

37/46: This truck belonged to Silas Hall's Transfer Line just after World War I. It was used for hauling freight from the NP (Northern Pacific Railroad) depot to stores around town as well as for other kinds of moving. The picture was taken in front of the railroad freight office. Before the truck, Silas Hal used teams of horses and wagons which he kept at 415 Main (now Washington Street).
