PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -Coming all the way from a small private Christian school in Virginia, Bay High’s Andrew Scott has quickly blossomed into one of the team’s top pitchers on the diamond during his senior season. He’s 1-1 with 25 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched so far. The transition didn’t come easy, but with help from others, Andrew got through it. He says” It was a very big move, the system here especially the school system is very hard to work through, but I got through it. and sports here are much better than up in Virginia so it’s a lot of things that come at you, but I got through it. Much bigger classes, compared to what I had back up there and a lot of different academics and sports.” After high school, Andrew has a few schools to choose from on where he wants to play next. Some of those schools being back in Virginia. Andrew wants to study sports medicine in hopes of becoming a physical therapist, and that aspiration comes from a lifetime of injuries Andrew has accumulated during his career. “One of them I had a bad ankle sprain that I was out for three weeks in basketball. Another one was a leg injury in basketball that I was out for another four weeks so I’ve had a fair amount. " Through Andrew’s baseball career, and in school, he’s dedicated it all to a special person he’ll never forget. “My grandpa, he used to play this sport and he died eight years back and he just motivates me to do the best that I can and God because he gave us these abilities to do these things so. I usually pray before the game, usually when we go out to warm up, I usually like to pray or yeah that’s about it just pray.”
