Baseball is fun for a lot of reasons, including the thrill of the game, the camaraderie of fans, and the mental challenges it presents. That's the reason why is known as "The King of Sports" in many parts of the world.
And if there's a team that exemplifies that to the fullest is the the Savannah Bananas, an exhibition barnstorming baseball team based in Savannah, Georgia.
They recently sold out Raymond James Stadium - home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers -, venue that can hold 65,000 seats, for a night game against their touring partner, the Savannah Party Animals. That's how the Bananas commemorated their first game in an NFL stadium in style.
A fun play gets the crowd excited
The Savannah Bananas promise to play the fastest and most entertaining game of baseball. Their players perform choreographed dances every game, with a range that goes from Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen, or Mariah Carey. Every game they play to the rhythm of the music.
One particular play got the crowd excited at Raymond James Stadium. As the Bananas get ready to bat, they danced to the monster classic "You Should Be Dancing" by the Bee Gees.
The batter hits a liner to first base and the Party Animals player grabs the ball, throws it to second and then back to first for a beautiful double play. All of that happened based on a 3-2-2 method, which stands for 3rd inning, second batter, second pitch.
The Bananas popularity keeps on growing
The Bananas have become an increasingly popular act in recent years, as "Banana Ball" has gained mass appeal to the point that they had sold out Major League Baseball stadiums prior to their first sellout of an NFL stadium.
Their unique in-game pre-pitch dances have combined together for over 300 million views on TikTok. They are also the only baseball team to play in kilts. The hitters walk-ups are legendary. Bananas may be escorted to the plate by the Banana Pep Band, walk down the yellow carpet wearing the finest Dolce and Banana, or they may even introduce themselves.
"We are known for our epic scoring celebrations. From running through the crowd to performing fully choreographed country line dances. When we score, you never know what will happen next. We have the World's Tallest Hitter and Pitcher with Dakota "Stilts" Albritton who stands 10 feet tall." says the description on their website.
