The Pisgah baseball team notch produced a season-high run total as it posted its second win in a three-day span against a Jackson County rival.
The Eagles turned 14 hits and seven walks into a 22-2 win over visiting Skyline Monday afternoon at Pisgah’s Griffith-Talley Field.
Pisgah led 2-0 before scoring 12 runs in the bottom of the third inning and eight in the bottom of the fourth.
Ross Smith finished 3-for-4 with two triples, a double, three RBIs and three runs scored and teammate Luke Gilbert went 2-for-5 with two triples, four RBIs and four runs scored for Pisgah while Jackson Smalley was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Caleb Jenkins and Braxton Garrett both went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. The Eagles also got one hit and one RBI from Mason Gass, one hit from Cutter Mays and one RBI from Mason Cooley.
Gilbert allowed one run on one hit and one walk while recoding seven strikeouts over 3 1/3 innings to get the win on the mound. Gass had one strikeout while pitching 1 2/3 innings in relief.
Landon Farmer doubled and Will Gates singled for Skyline.
TUESDAY
NSM 10, Glencoe 5 — At Glencoe, Mike Poss hit a grand slam in the top of the seventh inning to lift North Sand Mountain to the win over the Class 3A Yellow Jackets.
The game was tied 2-all when Jaxson Stiles and Luke Reed both singled and Carson Harvey reached on an error to load the bases for the Bison. Poss then hit the first pitch he saw over the right-field fence to give NSM a 6-2 lead.
Back-to-back Glencoe errors led to Levi Burgess’ two-run single to extend the Bison’s advantage to 8-2, and Reed drove in a run on fielder’s choice while another NSM run scored on another Glencoe error.
Poss finished 2-for-3 with five RBIs for NSM and Burgess was 3-for-4 with two RBIs while Stiles went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Reed (RBI) and Parker Mashburn had one hit each.
Poss also got the win, pitching 6 2/3 innings and recording nine strikeouts.
Pisgah 13, Ider 8 — At Ider, the Eagles scored 11 runs over the first three innings before holding off the home team’s late-inning rally attempt to notch their third win in their last four games.
Pisgah (4-3) built a 7-0 lead in a top of the first inning highlighted by Luke Gilbert’s two-run triple, Caleb Jenkins’ RBI groundout, Braxton Garrett’s RBI-single and Legion McCrary’s RBI sacrifice.
Garrett added a two-run double in the second inning and Gilbert homered in the third as the Eagles stretched their lead to 11-2 over Ider (8-4), and they added two more runs in the seventh on Mason Gass’ RBI triple and Garrett’s RBI groundout.
Garrett finished 2-for-5 with four RBIs and Gilbert was 2-for-5 with three RBIs for the Eagles, who also got two hits, three walks and three runs scored from Cutter Mays, one hit each from Jackson Smalley and Landon Shaver and one RBI from McCrary.
Caleb Jenkins recorded six strikeouts over three inning pitched on the mound while Smalley had four strikeouts over four innings pitched.
Hazel Green 4, Scottsboro 1 — At Hazel Green, the home team used four-run third inning to notch a win over the visiting Wildcats.
Scottsboro (7-6) cut the deficit to 4-1 in the top of the fourth on Cohen Thompson’s solo home run, but Hazel Green pitched Blain White retired the final 10 Scottsboro batters of the game to close out his complete-game two-hit, six-strikeout performance.

Brindlee Mountain 18, Woodville 8 — At Scant City, the Panthers dropped a matchup to Class 3A Brindlee Mountain Tuesday afternoon.
Austin Lindbom had a two-run double and an RBI groundout and Mason Jones had an RBI single and an RBI walk for Woodville (0-6) while Caleb Lancaster drove in a run and Riley White, Fisher Brown and Carter Johnson all singled.
Susan Moore 14, Skyline 6 — At Skyline, the Vikings out-hit visiting Susan Moore but errors were costly as they fell to the Class 2A Bulldogs.
Skyline (0-4) had nine hits, led by Emir Becerra going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs and Will Gates going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Landon Farmer singled and tripled for the Vikings while Noah Yates singled and walked and Will Avans singled.
WEDNESDAY
NSM 14, Sale Creek (Tenn.) 2 — At Sale Creek, Tennessee, North Sand Mountain got the bats going late en route to its fifth consecutive win.
NSM broke a scoreless tie with a six-run top of the fourth before adding a run in the fifth and seven runs in the sixth.
Cooper Pierce went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and four RBIs and Carson Harvey was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer for NSM, which also got two hits each from Jaxson Stiles, Mikey Poss and Landon Keller, an RBI single from Levi Burgess and a single from Jackson Burgess and two walks from Brayton Johnson.
Harvey got the win on the mound, pitching five innings and recording seven strikeouts.
