The Lincoln Blue Tigers dropped their Great Lakes Valley Conference baseball opener Friday at Vivion Field to the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons 15-3.
Braedon Stoakes crossed the plate first for the Tritons in the opening frame on a single from Cade Grevengoed. Barrett Rose added the final run in the frame on an error commited by the Blue Tigers.
Lincoln plated three runs in the fourth inning on a Jayden Little home run to right field that drove in Andy Sreboski IV and Ryan Lepper.
Zach Haygood got the start for the Tritons (13-7, 3-2 GLVC) and earned the win tossing six innings and gave up three runs on six hits while striking out seven. Will Johnson pitched the final frame giving up no runs and allowing only one hit and striking out three.
Drake Davidson got the nod on the mound for the Blue Tigers and tossed three innings while giving up six runs on three hits. Canon Feist came on in relief and tossed the final four frames giving up nine runs on 12 hits.
Little, Sreboski and Ty Ollison each collected two hits for the Blue Tigers in the contest. Ryan Lepper picked up the only other hit for the Blue Tigers.
Lincoln (2-15, 0-1) is back in action for at noon today at Vivion Field for the opener of a doubleheader against the Tritons. The four-game series will conclude Sunday.
