The Rabbitohs have signed winger Mikaele Ravalawa for the remainder of the 2025 season to allievate some pressure off the team’s undermanned outside back stocks.

Ravalawa is set to return to the Dragons next season to fulfill the remainder of his contract with the Red V which ends at the end of 2026.

The move is a win-win for both the Dragons and Rabbitohs.

The Dragons needed to release one player from their top 30 to accomodate the signing of prop David Klemmer while Souths’ outside backs depth at the moment is thin at best.

“Mikaele is a powerful, big body with a lot of NRL experience and noted try scoring ability, and he will add depth to our outside back stocks,” South Sydney’s head of recruitment and retention Mark Ellison said.

“He has represented his country and provides us with a point of difference on our flanks with his aggressive running style.

“We look forward to welcoming Mikaele to the Rabbitohs.”

KNIGHTS CONFIRM $13 MILLION MAN

The Newcastle Knights have confirmed the signing of Eels No.6 Dylan Brown on a mega 10-year deal worth $13 million.

As previously reported, the deal will see Brown join the Knights in 2026 until the end of the 2035 season.

The Knights said in a statement that the club “looks forward to welcoming Dylan upon the completion of his current contract” but didn’t make any further comment out of respect to Brown and Parramatta.

The 24-year-old has scored 32 tries in 125 games for the Eels since his debut in 2019 and has played eight Tests for New Zealand to date.

DRAGONS SIGN TIGERS ENFORCER AFTER RELEASE

The St George Illawarra Dragons have signed David Klemmer for the 2025 season after his immediate release from the Wests Tigers.

“The Dragons are pleased to announce the signing of David Klemmer for the rest of the 2025 season,” the Dragons said in a statement.

The 31-year-old front-rower has featured in 19 Tests, 14 Origins and 238 first grade games at the Bulldogs, Knights and Wests Tigers.

“I’ve said publicly we are looking to bolster our middle forward stocks for this season so David is a great pick-up for us,” said Dragons Head Coach Shane Flanagan.

“He’s a different body shape to what we’ve got in our forward pack currently and also brings some great experience at Test, Origin and club level.”

The Tigers released their own statement.

“Wests Tigers can announce that prop forward David Klemmer has been granted an immediate release from his contract to pursue an opportunity with another NRL club,” the Tigers statement said.

Klemmer, who joined the Tigers in 2023, made 44 appearances for the club over two seasons. His experience and leadership have been invaluable during his tenure.

Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson commented on Klemmer’s departure.

“Klemmer has been a great clubman, and we thank him for that. We understand and support his desire to take on new challenges and we wish him and his family all the best in the future,” Richardson said.

RAIDERS ENFORCER SIGNS EXTENSION

Canberra Raiders forward Simi Sasagi has re-signed with the club for a further season, extending his contract until the end of 2026.

Sasagi joined the Raiders on a two-year deal at the beginning of 2024 and has played 11 NRL matches for the Green Machine.

His versatility in covering several positions has earned him a starting spot in the NRL team at the beginning of this season.

The 23-year-old said he was thrilled to extend his stay in Canberra and continue building on his career with the club.

“I love this club and what this club is about so when the opportunity arose to stay it was a no-brainer,” Sasagi said.

Raiders NRL Recruitment Manager Joel Carbone said Sasagi had become a valuable member of the squad, and his extension was a testament to his dedication and effort.

“Simi has been a great addition to our squad, with his talent and versatility giving us a player who can cover several positions,” Carbone said.

“Simi deserves the opportunity to extend his contract, and we look forward to seeing him continue his growth as a player over this season and next.”
