LSU basketball coach Matt McMahon received a pay raise this season, according to the database released Thursday by USA Today Sports.

This year, McMahon is set to earn $2.8 million, $100,000 more than he earned last year. After being the 49th-highest paid coach in college basketball in 2024, McMahon sits at 50th-highest in 2025, right between Gonzaga's Mark Few and California's Mark Madsen — although some private schools do not appear in the database.

Within the SEC, McMahon ranks as the lowest-paid among the 15 head coaches for which we have data (Vanderbilt, as a private school, does not appear in the database). His closest conference counterpart is Rodney Terry of SEC newcomer Texas, but even Terry is set to earn about $200,000 more than McMahon.

This isn't much of a difference from last season, though, as McMahon was the second-lowest paid coach in the conference in 2024. Since then, South Carolina coach Lamont Paris received a raise following the Gamecocks' successful 2023-24 campaign.

McMahon just finished his third season in Baton Rouge. Thus far in his tenure with the Tigers, he has a 45-48 record.
