CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKBN) – Cleveland Guardians manager Stephen Vogt announced on Thursday that pitcher Gavin Williams has been re-evaluated and cleared by doctors to resume throwing.

He resumed throwing on Thursday and was pain-free, according to Vogt.

Williams has missed the last week of action after being shut down after experiencing elbow soreness.

The right-hander was originally injured in spring training while working with a weighted ball and had been rehabbing the elbow at the team’s training facility in Goodyear, Arizona.

He was selected by Cleveland with the No. 21 overall selection in the 2021 MLB Draft.

He made his Major League debut in 2023, posting a record of 3-5 with a 3.29 ERA. He pitched 82 innings, piling up 81 strikeouts in his first season in Major League Baseball.
