Estancia hires Kevin Conlin as baseball coach

Estancia High has hired Kevin Conlin as its new baseball coach, Nate Goellrich, an athletic director at the school, said Tuesday.

Conlin takes over for Goellrich, who stepped down in June after six seasons because he wanted to focus on his role as an athletic director and spend more time with his family.

Estancia finished 16-13 overall and in third place in the Orange Coast League at 9-6 last season.

Conlin has served as an assistant at Northwood and University. He played for his father, Chris, at University, before going off to play at UCLA in the early 2000s.

“He comes from a family of coaches,” said Goellrich, referring to Conlin’s dad, who coached at University for 30 years until he retired in 2016. “[With] his playing experience, along with his current coaching experience, we feel will help take our baseball program to another level.”
