The Jamestown Sun hands out these bravos and buffalo chips this week:

*Bravo to those people who voted in Tuesday’s primary election in North Dakota. And buffalo chip to the turnout only being 20.92 percent in Stutsman County, according to unofficial election results. While the turnout was better than the state average of 19.66 percent, it’s still far below what it should be. Only 3,517 of 16,810 eligible voters in Stutsman County cast a ballot.

*Bravo to today’s inductees into the North Dakota Sports Hall of Fame in Jamestown. Dan Carr, Scott Berry, Brooks Bollinger and Larry Roesler will be honored with the Cliff Cushman Award today at the Jamestown Civic Center. Carr is head boys basketball coach at Linton-HMB. Berry is baseball coach at Mayville State University. Bollinger is a former NFL quarterback for the New York Jets, Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys. Roseler became a 17-time All-American track and field athlete for the University of Oregon.

*Buffalo chip to the person or people responsible for vehicle thefts at Wilhelm Chevrolet Buick GMC in Jamestown since May 3. Five vehicles have been stolen; four have been recovered.

*Bravo to the city of Medina being awarded a $3.5 million grant from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for a project to improve water and sewer infrastructure in the city. The $7 million project will replace water and sewer pipes that are deteriorating.

*Bravo to Kidder County farmers and ranchers who helped a family in need on Memorial Day. Larry Olson, a 55-year-old Tappen area farmer, died May 27 in a farm accident. Fellow producers helped haul 76 cattle pairs to pasture, and more plans are in the works to help with other crucial tasks the Olson family is facing related to the farm such as seeding, spraying and walking more cattle to pasture.

*Bravo to Theresa Kraft of Jamestown, who will receive her Gold Scout award on June 19 in Fargo. Kraft earned the highest honor in Girl Scouting with her project, “Blankets of Comfort,” a local blanket drive for children in foster homes. The children will receive them when they enter foster care and can keep them.
