HCC baseball team ranked 17th in NJCAA DI poll
The Hutchinson Community College baseball team is ranked 17th in the latest NJCAA Division I poll released on Monday.
HCC, ranked 20th and 17th in the previous two weeks, received 19 points.
Gaston College (49-6) is ranked first, followed by Johnson County Community College (43-9), Georgia Highlands College (46-7), Iowa Western Community College (44-12) and Northwest Florida State College (31-13).
Kansas City Kansas Community College (42-11) is ranked 15th.
Hutchinson clinched its first Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West Division title since 2021 with a 27-5 league record. The Blue Dragons have a 42-11 overall record.
Cloud County is second in the Jayhawk West with a 20-8 league record (36-16 overall), followed by Butler CC 17-11 (28-23), Dodge City 17-11 (33-19), Barton 15-13 (33-19), Seward County 14-13 (26-24), Colby 9-18 (13-37), Pratt 6-22 (21-30) and Garden City 2-26 (6-41).
Johnson County leads the Jayhawk East Division with a 25-3 league record (43-9 overall), followed by KCK 23-5 (42-7), Cowley College 23-5 (35-16), Fort Scott 16-12 (36-16), Neosho County 14-14 (29-19), Coffeyville 9-19 (24-28), Allen County 8-24 (20-31), Labette 5-22 (13-31) and Highland 4-23 (16-34).
Hesston College, an independent, has a 9-31 record.
The Hutchinson Blue Dragon baseball team will play a single game against Allen County Community College at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hobart-Detter Field and then will travel to Iola Saturday for a 1 p.m. single game at the ACC Baseball Field.
The Region VI sub-regional baseball tournament is May 9-11.
The 2024 Plains District (Region VI) baseball tournament will take place May 15-19 at Wichita State University’s Eck Stadium-Tyler Field.
The NJCAA Division I World Series will take place May 25-June 1 at Sam Suplizio Field in Grand Junction, Colo.
HCC softball not ranked in NJCAA Division I poll
Hutchinson, despite winning eight straight games and boasting a 41-9 overall record and a 28-4 mark in the Jayhawk Conference, is not ranked in the latest NJCAA Division I softball poll.
Butler Community College, 30-2 in the Jayhawk Conference and 42-8 overall, is ranked 13th for the second straight week.
McLennan Community College (54-2) is ranked first, followed by Northwest Florida State College (51-3), Florida Southwestern State (52-6), Temple College (47-9) and Salt Lake Community College (40-7).
Butler is first in the Jayhawk Conference, followed by Hutchinson, Barton 21-11 league (26-18 overall), Colby 19-12 (26-3), Seward County 19-13 (25-21), Dodge City 11-20 (11-30), Pratt 7-25 (11-39), Garden City 7-25 (9-37) and Northwest Kansas Technical College-Goodland 1-31 (1-47).
The Region VI softball tournament will take place May 3-6 at Legends Park in Dodge City, hosted by Dodge City Community College.
The NJCAA Division I Softball World Series is scheduled for May 20-25 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala.
